About

Valerie Ruccia Eagan, Watercolor Artist
Watercolor errupted unexpectedly in my life as joy, frustration and wonderment in the process of capturing the intricacies of nature and the subtle graces of our world in light and form.
After quilting and throwing painted glass bulbs for years, I realized it was color itself and it’s combinations that excited and captivated me.
Bringing this stunning pleasure of beauty to the eye is what inspires me most, as well as the sheer fun and unpredictability of watercolor!
Valerie approaches her work in a distinctive way: she catches a theme for a painting in mid air and rides with it as if riding on the wing of a bird. Valerie is creative to the tips of her toes. She does not settle when she paints, working from an inner place of spirit and intuition. She is so creative that she trusts herself to come to the place she is seeking. The process is what matters, as it should, so an inspired painting may succeed and it may not.
Painting for Valerie is a spiritual seeking. It is a place of joy, and a time of discovery and growth. I love having Valerie in my class. Her energy invigorates the classroom as in her work process she brings a fearlessness and courage that is rare. Her energy is like that of wild horses, it has speed and power and no one knows where it will go!
